Little Sister
September 17 2023

Little Sister makes up one of the Three Sisters in Canmore and is one of most photographed mountains in the area. It is also one of the most technical mountains in the area with the easiest route requiring technical climbing skill to get up. What it lacks in height compared to its fellow sisters it makes up for in difficulty!

A view looking up at Little Sister from near the end of the approach before starting the climb

After a big day trip push for Mystic Peak the day before, Troy Martel and I had plans to go for Little Sister and wrap up our Canmore Mountain List goal! I was feeling it from the day prior but the stoke was exceptionally high to get it done so we were up early and headed out from the car by a bit after 7am. With Troy's wealth of experience climbing none of the pitches presented any issues for us and after a fun ascent the list was complete!

Reversing the ascent took some care but with a few rappels and watching for loose rocks it was completely manageable and we got down in one piece. It was a wild feeling to have finally completed such a big personal mountain goal but I had pushed hard to finish it over the past weeks so it was good to have it done! While not the most technical, the peaks around Canmore served as an excellent training ground for me to progress in the mountains, and pushing to finish this list prepared me extremely well for my mountains goals to come.
